Taylor Desormeau
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
BA, MACP (In Progress), RP(Q)My name is Taylor (she/her), and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Although I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, I have over five years of professional experience in the mental health field. My experience includes working with individuals with mental health concerns, addictions, trauma, and self-esteem issues. I am passionate about working with female-identified survivors of violence and supporting them with feeling safe, heard, and empowered. I also have experience working with youth to support them with emotional regulation, communication, and self-esteem.
My goal is to make you feel safe and heard through empathy, compassion, and kindness. I will strive to meet you where you are and provide you with the right tools to empower yourself along your healing journey. I believe that healing happens through connection, and I want to make sure that your voice and lived experiences are at the centre of our conversations.
I implement trauma-informed approaches that are grounded in strengths-based and person-centered perspectives. This ensures that we move at a pace that you feel comfortable with and that we acknowledge your strengths to assist you with becoming resilient and confident. I draw on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to support you with healing from trauma, processing your emotions, and strengthening your sense of self.
I recognize how scary it can be to seek support, and I hold deep respect for those who reach out as this takes a lot of strength and courage. That being said, I want to create a safe space for you to be able to share your experiences without any judgement. Being a human is messy, hard, and complicated and I want you to know that you are not alone.
I went through a time in my life where I felt alone and lost, but seeking therapy helped me form a connection and gain confidence in myself. As a result, I became extremely passionate about supporting others and making sure that everyone knows they have someone to lean on. I would be honoured to walk alongside you in your journey.
If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed by what you’re carrying, reaching out can feel like a big step. I understand how hard that can be. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear starting point. We can begin wherever you are and work toward helping you feel more grounded and connected to yourself.
