Welcome! My name is Brittany. You don't need to know exactly what's wrong or where to begin. I believe therapy starts with feeling safe, heard, and comfortable enough to be yourself. We can begin with what's happening right now and figure out the next steps together.

A little about me

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong or where to begin. I believe therapy starts with feeling safe, heard, and comfortable enough to be yourself. We can begin with what's happening right now and figure out the next steps together.

You may be someone who spends a lot of time in your own head. Maybe you're constantly overthinking, questioning yourself, worrying about what other people think, or feeling like you're never quite doing enough. Anxiety can make even small decisions feel overwhelming, while low self-esteem can leave you doubting yourself, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling disconnected from the person you want to be.

Or perhaps something in your life has changed and you're having a harder time adjusting than you expected. Depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, an injury or health change, or a major life transition can affect not only how you feel day to day, but also your confidence, relationships, independence, and sense of who you are.

I work with teens 12+ and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-worth, life transitions, boundary and relationship difficulties, addiction concerns, and the emotional impact of brain injury. You don't have to fit neatly into one of those categories, though. Sometimes you simply know that something isn't working anymore and you'd like some help understanding why.

Therapy isn't about becoming a different version of yourself. It can be a place to understand yourself more deeply and begin moving toward the life that matters to you.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I began working in brain injury rehabilitation, where for several years I've supported people navigating changes in communication, independence, relationships, abilities, and everyday life. This experience has given me a unique understanding of how difficult it can be when life changes unexpectedly and you're left trying to adjust not only to what happened, but to how you see yourself afterward.

My interest in mental health also began much earlier. Growing up with family members who experienced addiction and mood disorders made me curious about why people struggle, how we learn to cope, and what helps us heal. Those experiences contributed to my belief that there is always more to someone than the challenges they're experiencing.

When we work together, the relationship comes first. I want therapy to feel like somewhere you can be honest, ask questions, change your mind, and talk about the things that may be difficult to say elsewhere. I'm not here to assume I know what's best for you. We'll work collaboratively to understand what's happening, what matters to you, and what might help.

I'm particularly drawn to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can help us change our relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than spending all of our energy trying to make them disappear. We can work on noticing the patterns that keep you stuck, making room for uncomfortable experiences, and finding ways to move toward what's meaningful to you even when life doesn't feel perfectly settled.

My approach is client-centred and flexible. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing, while incorporating psychodynamic and somatic perspectives as appropriate. I don't believe one approach works for everyone, so we'll consider what fits you rather than trying to make you fit a particular type of therapy.

My experience has also included providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive support to newcomer and refugee populations who have experienced displacement, persecution, and significant life stress. Across these different roles, one thing has remained important to me: understanding the person in front of me before trying to change anything.

You don't need to arrive at therapy with a perfectly organized story or a clear idea of what you need. We can start with where you are.
