 Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you have felt misunderstood, judged, or unseen in other spaces. If you are navigating questions around identity, mental health, relationships, or self worth, you deserve support that feels affirming, respectful, and genuinely safe.

My name is Caitlin Gilbert, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying. I identify as queer and neurodivergent, and I work from a deeply affirming, non judgmental, and collaborative approach. I am kink affirming, sex positive, and inclusive of diverse relationship structures, including polyamory and ethical non monogamy. I am also a single mother and bring both lived experience and professional care into the work I do with clients.

I hold an undergraduate degree in nursing and bring over 18 years of experience working in mental health across hospital and community settings. I recently completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My decision to pursue psychotherapy was shaped by my own experiences with anxiety, depression, and trauma, and by seeing firsthand how meaningful and transformative supportive care can be.

My therapeutic approach is humanistic and person centered, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, creativity, and emotional safety. I draw from a range of evidence based and experiential modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, narrative therapy, somatic approaches, and Exposure and Response Prevention for anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, OCD, and phobias. I am also trained in Gottman Method couples therapy and integrate sex therapy informed and kink affirming care into my work.

I work with adolescents and adults ages 12 and up, as well as couples. I have a particular passion for supporting 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and couples, transgender and gender diverse clients, neurodivergent clients, and those navigating identity related concerns. I also support clients working through anxiety, depression, trauma, low self esteem, sexual concerns, relationship challenges, and issues related to sexuality, gender, and self expression.

Clients often describe my style as warm, open, and engaging. I strive to create a space where you can bring your full self into the room without fear of being judged or needing to explain or defend who you are. I see therapy as a shared journey, where you are the expert in your own experience and I am here to walk alongside you with curiosity, care, and respect.

I am committed to ongoing learning and regularly pursue additional training to deepen my clinical skills and better support my clients. I believe therapy should evolve with you and remain responsive to your needs, values, and goals.

If you are considering therapy and are looking for an affirming and supportive space, I would be honoured to work with you.
