Hi, I'm Nadia. I am an Intern Therapist completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

Sometimes what brings you to therapy isn't one specific problem. You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or caught in patterns you don't quite understand. Maybe you're struggling in a relationship, finding it hard to communicate what you need, questioning yourself more than you'd like, or noticing that the same challenges seem to follow you from one relationship or stage of life into the next.

I believe our relationships can have a powerful impact on how we experience ourselves and the world around us. When our closest relationships feel safe and connected, they can be an incredible source of support. When they don't, the effects can reach much further. Conflict, disconnection, difficulty trusting, people pleasing, unmet needs, or feeling as though you're not being heard can affect your confidence, emotional wellbeing, and the way you show up in other areas of your life.

I work with teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, communication challenges, self-esteem, emotional regulation, life transitions, and personal growth. Whether you're coming to therapy individually or alongside a partner, my goal is to help you better understand what's happening beneath the patterns that are leaving you feeling stuck.

I have a particular interest in couples and relationship work. Sometimes couples come to therapy because something feels broken. Others still care deeply about one another but keep having versions of the same argument, struggle to communicate what they actually need, or feel less connected than they once did. And sometimes nothing is necessarily "wrong." You may simply want to understand each other better, strengthen your relationship, or be more intentional about the way you move through life together. Couples therapy doesn't have to be a last resort.

My interest in supporting teens and young adults has also been shaped by my work as a crisis responder with Kids Help Phone. Through hundreds of conversations with people experiencing emotional distress, I've learned how important it can be to have someone stay present with you when things feel overwhelming. You don't always need to know exactly what to say or even what you need before reaching out. Sometimes we start by making sense of what is happening together.

My approach to therapy is deeply relational and collaborative. I believe the connection we build together matters, and I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest without worrying about saying the "right" thing. I draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, adapting our work depending on what you need. At times that may mean practical strategies for managing difficult emotions or changing patterns. At other times, it may mean slowing down and creating enough space to understand where those patterns came from in the first place.

Before entering the counselling field, my background in psychology, neuroscience, crisis support, hospitality, and working closely with couples taught me a great deal about people, communication, and connection. I've always been interested in what allows people to feel understood and what happens when that connection breaks down. Therapy felt like a natural place to deepen that work.

You don't need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You may be going through something difficult, wanting to strengthen an important relationship, trying to understand yourself differently, or simply realizing that the way things have been isn't how you want them to continue.

My role isn't to tell you what your life or relationships should look like. It's to meet you where you are, understand what matters to you, and work alongside you toward greater connection, confidence, and wellbeing.
