Hareesma Amutha Venkatesan
Hello! I’m Hareesma (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from York University. I’m here to support you in feeling seen, heard, and understood without judgment or pressure to “get it all right.”
I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or burnt out. Whether that’s due to anxiety, relationship struggles, perfectionism, or life transitions that feel heavier than expected. I aim to create a space where you can slow down, explore what’s coming up for you, and begin to reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way. I especially enjoy working with individuals who have spent a lot of time caring for others and are now learning how to care for themselves, including mothers who are navigating the emotional weight of parenting, identity shifts, and the pressure to keep everything together.
I often support adult women navigating relationship challenges, whether with partners, family, or colleagues while also struggling to maintain a sense of balance between work and personal life. These overlapping pressures can feel exhausting and isolating. In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can pause, reflect, and begin to set boundaries that honour both your needs and values.
My approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I use a mix of evidence-based practices like CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and emotion-focused work while tailoring each session to fit your needs. You won’t find judgment or quick fixes here. Instead, we’ll take our time to better understand your patterns, make space for your emotions, and work toward change that feels real and sustainable.
I also offer sessions in both Tamil and English. As a BIPOC therapist, and someone with lived experience as a mother, immigrant, and former international student, I bring a culturally aware and compassionate lens to the therapy space. I understand how layered identity, belonging, and emotional safety can be and I’m here to hold space for all of it.
